Present :

David Slatcher (ex-officio member representing Boningale PC).

1. Apologies - Roger Rudman, Patrick Richards, Ron Kidson and David Beechey (ex-officio member representing Donington-with-Boscobel PC).

2. Minutes of Meeting of 14th March 2022 were approved.

3. Treasurer’s Report. MP reported receipt of sponsorship from Boningale Homes Ltd for the Welcome Pack. Bank balance was £1743-47.

4. To consider progress in regard to following main issues

a. Progress with gaining SC Planning Application Consultee status for all four parishes. SC Cllr Nigel Lumby has received a reply from SC. ACTION: PW will register with SC for all four parishes and to use Chairman@albrightonanddistrictcivicsociety as the contact. SC will then send a notification to this email address which both PW and MP monitor. They then have to view the relevant planning applications on the SC Planning Portal.

b. State of roads especially pot holes in High St, the depression in Station Rd and the very bad surface in Cross Road – request for SC officers to meet us on site. PW reported no response re a site meeting with SC but that SC Cllr Nigel Lumby continues to follow up with SC.

DS reported that Burnhill Green Road has been re-surfaced and that this was initiated by BPC asking SC for a Complete Road Survey.

PI reported that APC had received a report from SC showing that the average speed in Cross Road was 29 mph. RS reported again that SC had taken samples of Cross Road prior to re-surfacing – the contractor said he understood that the re-surfacing would be from the High St to the 40mph sign but not beyond. This part beyond is the worst part.

ACTION: PI will ask APC to make a formal request for SC to send their Plan for Road Repairs which should show a) which village roads will be repaired and b) the approx date the repair will be done.

c. PW felt that some vehicle speeds in the central part of the High Street were high.

ACTION: PI would ask APC to request SC for a Survey of Speeds along the High St.

d. ADCS Annual Calendar Project.. DS has secured the first sponsor – Cucumber PR. DS had also contacted Paul Constantine at D A Roses to see if they would also be a sponsor.

ACTION: PI will contact Carol Langford who runs the School of Photography to ask if she would provide any photos. DS reminded all that as paper prices were rising we need to have everything ready asap.

e. ‘Welcome Pack’, MP reported his meetings with Boningale Homes and tabled options provided by the Editor for the Magazine front page which was then chosen.

MP has planned distribution to all occupied houses in Millfield on Thurs 21st April.

ACTION: All Volunteers meet at the BH marketing building at 6pm.

5. Matters arising

a. Fayre Day (9th July)

RS reported that the Fayre committee is still only five people so far and more help is needed.

ACTION: MP will make the £30 stall fee payment

PW reported that John Bulmer has kindly agreed to provide some plants for the Society to sell.

6. Any Other Business

a. Parking or lack thereof at the Station was raised. Ex APC members recalled that they had met with the owner of the “triangular” land (ex wood yard) and had made a non-binding provisional offer which resulted in the owner making a counter offer which was in the same vicinity and a possible agreement could have been in sight. Discussions at the time were that it may be possible to fund the purchase of the land by:- the possibility of a low cost long term loan from the government and also seeking a substantial sum from the rail industry, who would benefit from the project, in addition to a small amount from council funds. ACTION: PI would raise the matter with APC to see if they wished to continue this action and the ex-APC members could pass on relevant information OR if they decide not to seek to have this land used for parking – ie to progress it or to state they will not – so residents know the situation.
